Now come on guys, I still have my 1985 Fiero, so all of them did not burn (but it has not had gas in it since about 1995 LOL). Actually it was another car that was ahead of its time, and it was a shame after they got all the bugs worked out of those first few model years, that the car was discontinued due to the problems (like the fires) people remembered. I would bet that the Tucker would have not faired well to the publics eyes for its first run of cars; too much was new and untested for everything to go right. I am sure if they had gone into full scale production, then the bugs would have surfaced and they would also have been worked out, one could only imagine what a 1949 or 1950 model Tucker would be like. And if he followed the latest trend in automotive circles, it would have been something. Kinda like how the new Bug and the Mini came out. First year everyone wanted one no matter what was in it or the limited body style. Give a year or 2 run of that then bring out the convertible version the larger engine, the improved fit and finish and they all get snatched up again (many by the original buyers of the first models as “step-up”). I think Tucker would have done the same, and even though there are many thoughts both ways about if there was a Tucker convertible being worked on, I am sure it would have come out.
